The interesting thing is (I love history!) most people think Australia has no history. I agree, doing any kind of research is hard because there are few personal diaries or records but as australia is the oldest landmass in the world, it has to have the oldest history right? Anyay, it's not the aussies that have kept any history books, they would prefer to forget it, but if you delve into European history, Australia has a history as rich as any other culture.
In some ways, it's been to lazy to explore it, the Aussies don't look to the past, they prefer the future and that's all fine. But they do have this amazing historical past which goes back way beyond 1788.
Sorry for my enthusiasm on this subject.

I just love delving into history.Have you read "The Fatal Shore" by Robert Hughes.....if not, give it a whirl.
