Default aqis messed up our return to uk

To anyone who is going through the whole rabies, blood test etc, please carefully check your paperwork. We have our flights booked for 3 weeks time, our house rented out last week(now at my mums caravan) and dog and cat had their booster for rabies in January.
Just sent the paperwork to Jetpets only to find that AQIS put the wrong date on the rabies certificate 3 years ago and our dog should have had her booster in December not January now she has to have another blood test tomorrow and can't fly for 6 months. To say we are devestated is putting it mildly. You spend months making the tough decision to go back, you plan everything down to the last and then bang everything changes because AQIS made a mistake. We can't put her in kennels for 6 months that would be awful and there is the cost the flights get doubled if the cat and dog fly seperately, cost of quarantine.
I am so upset, now what do we do, aaaaggghhhh.

So sorry to read that. Have you got any friends that could look after her? Or maybe you could find someone to "foster" your dog for a nominal fee for the 6 months?

we'd have to take AQIS to court to get compensation and we are stressed enough, just wished the mistake had never happened. But we are trying to put it in perspective, worse things happen to people every day so we may have to live on the street if we are discovered living here with a dog and a cat but things could be worse.
My OH is staying on at work for 3 months to earn the money for the quarantine in uk and the storage of our container, our stuff left 3 weeks ago so we are lucky in that way.

What part of Australia are you in? There might be someone here who could help out by fostering the dog for you for that time.

we have got someone who can have her for a couple of weeks once we have gone back which means the cat is going into the cattery so they both fly together. It's just the whole point of the rabies booster was to keep our little family together and it seems twice as bad when it is someone else's fault.
