Applying for first passport for my child...
So,
I am wanting to apply for a British Passport for my child. My wife and I were both born overseas (her canada myself south africa) and we both have british citizenship through our parents as they are were born in britain. Both my wife and I also lived in the UK for a few years before we decided to settle in Canada. So I did some research and I came across this at the UK Border Agency website saying that our daughter can get a british passport as her grandparents (our parents) were born in Britain. Here is the link: http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/br...en/bornabroad/ Now I am a bit confused as to where I need to start with the whole process.... do I apply for her citizenship first? then passport? I had a look at the forms and I can't make out which one to start with if I need to do that first. Or do I just apply for the passport? Please any advice would be great! |
Re: Applying for first passport for my child...
If the criteria you linked to meets your situation, then you would need to apply to register the child as a British citizen first. Once that is approved you can then apply for a British passport.
