Anyone near Wetherby (Yorkshire)?

Re: Anyone near Wetherby (Yorkshire)?
One of the things I'm really looking forward to is finding a really old traditional pub to have Sunday lunch. Any recommendations?

Here are a few we've discovered:

All have a nice old-fashioned atmosphere, no sports on TV, and good food.

Thanks for the recommendations everyone. The afternoon tea at the Kestrel looks good value at £9.95, especially in comparison with Betty's in Harrogate. Can't wait to get back to visit these places. Also once we are settled in the area we will be having some French friends across for a visit. I want to show them the best this area has to offer and to impress them with our lovely countryside etc!

We passed the Yorke Arms last night on our way up into Nidderdale. It hadn't occured to us until the other day that the nights are light enough to go out on drives after work, but once it did we waited for the first nice day and took off. Within 10 minutes we were in gorgeous countryside and it just kept getting better and better. All of a sudden we came upon the Yorke Arms and I recognized it from the BBC TV show 'The Trip.' Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon had a meal there.
We can never go in those gourmet places because they rarely cater properly for vegetarians, so we just admired the gorgeous facade and carried on to the Boar's Head which is much more accommodating to us.
Whoopsadaisy, I highly recommend taking your friends on the drive up to Pateley Bridge and then from there to Middlesmoor if you want to blow them away with lovely scenery.

This place, north of Leeds, is officially Britain's oldest inn (now a pub/restaurant). That may be a bit of a stretch as it was originally used as a resting place for monks travelling between York and Leeds but it is worth visiting. Most pubs and restaurants are marked on Google Earth so it is worth doing a sweep of the areas you want to visit on there.

This is another good place near Harrogate:

For those who have an interest in the Leeds area, here is a first rate photographic archive.

I'm in Harrogate, it's lovely I like the Travellers Rest near the Yorkshire show ground, lovely pub where dogs welcome in the bar area. And good food . Also bonus great countryside view.

If you go to this place, they even have sheep in the bar (go to Animals and Pets... (read more)):

Oh wow these pubs look fantastic. Just to check if they are fit for our French visitors I think we will be spending a lot of time in pubs next time we are over!

Where is this exactly? I googled but they don't appear to have a website. Is it on Wetherby Road?

For a posh lunch, restaurant or bar, try the Clock Tower at Rudding Park. We`ve had many a celebration there!
