We have built in that time, we have a pool, and we have done so much.
But things have gone up a lot, I dont find the food cheaper, its swings and roundabouts really, some things are cheaper, some more expensive.
We was sponsored, David being gas/plumber. But he has taken a half cut in wage, and longer hours.
But we new it would be like that for the first 2 years, so im not complaining, see what happens after the 2 years.

We would be coming out on a temporary visa so wouldn't be able to buy a house until we got permanent residency. However, the worrying thing is that by the time we go to buy a house, prices will be through the roof!

I know lots of people, who bought on temp visas, and my friend is on a student visa, and they are building.

Surely these people never come back to the forum to make any more posts? I can imagine they just want to put a closure on the whole episode!

I’d say go out there and give it a try but go with an open mind. Take every chance you get and give it your best shot. I’ve heard that it takes most people about 2 years to feel really settled and at home in their new country. Be realistic and accept that it won’t be paradise but it’s a new life and you need to give it your best shot. At least you’ll know you’ve given it try rather than wonder what it would have been like for th rest of you life.

Moving to a new country can be intimidating and it can be stressful and you may feel homesick for a bit, but just embrace the chance to explore a new place and make new friends. Get out and do as much as you can, try new sports and hobbies and join clubs or do volunteer work etc. to make friends. You might meet people you click with straight away, you might not, so just meet as many people as you can! You might also find some new hobbies you really enjoy.
Don't compare the new place to England because it is bound to have differences, but just look for all the great new aspects of the place you live in. I would say it takes at least 6 months, maybe much longer, to feel settled and used to the changes in your life.
Go for it and enjoy!
P.S. Maybe think twice if you're moving to Perth though?! Check out the 'moving back the UK' threads. Most people are coming back from Perth!
