Good luck with it all Penny.

Who knows, maybe one day we could all meet up on a sunny sunday afternoon in an English pub garden and swap old stories

Ive been back just over two months and hopefully today will hear whether Ive secured a mortgage so I can go ahead buying a house.

Ive been at my mums since I returned (very little choice of rental in my price bracket here) and was here before I moved to aus, then at my sons before that. Not lived in my own space since Nov 4 06, and thats after 28 years of living on my own (apart from my sons that is) no wonder im going cuckoo.

Mind limbo land is being ok to me at the mo, no housework, cooking etc.

Hi there, I used to live in Perth and for about the last 2-3 years there I was definately in limbo land, we had a crap car but never bought a better one as we were coming back to UK, we never got a cat for same reason and tried to keep house in neutral colours ready to sell, it was horrible. We came home 6 months ago and it's great not to be in limbo land, we've now got a decent car and will get a cat as soon as we move into our new home next month and just feel settled as I didn't have that for so long in Perth. I only wish we had done it sooner and can't believe we spent so long trying to make up our minds what to do. Good luck to everyone coming back.

I just been looking at that area, MandinOz has been really helpful....

It looks lovely and central enough for commuting....

No point going for promotion at work or doing extra training. I will never do this kind of work again when i return to UK

It is quite disconcerting. I am floating around with no purpose until i leave.

Anyone else feel like this? What things do you feel are no point in doing anymore?
Does anyone know how to change their signature name on here, have tried posting a thread but it doesn't go/show up help

wow. i thought i was all alone in this hazy world of limboness. can't get a cat. not worth getting a decent car. don't bother buying anything new, only get 2nd hand furniture. not worth getting a new/bigger tv. don't get a dvd player just use the old video; don't buy new kitchen utensils, don't buy household appliances...

it really is demoralising and it's been goin on now for over 2 years, but probably longer than that as when i was in the UK i couldn't settle either until i got a work permit. mine fell through so had to go back to oz and have been tryin to get back to uk ever since...

it's a hellish life and sometimes i wish i'd never ever been o/seas so i didn't have this constant pull on my heart to be elsewhere.

Australia is a terrific place if you want to retire, are a babyboomer who is well on the property ladder, have an established career and you don't worry too much about the environment, race and sex equality or world affairs.
