Default Any positive stories of moving back to the UK?

So yes its just a selfish search for confirmation that if we do move back from the UK from NZ after 13 years that we might be making the right decision. SO yes just looking for any positive stories as there are plenty of negative ones on here but my thoughts are that you are more likely to come on here when things are going bad than got come on here and sing out how great everything is.

I could be wrong but please, if anyone has one please feel free to share it

I agree with you. IMO people who have moved to a new country or returned to the UK...and are happy with their life...are out there happily getting on it. People who aren’t so happy post on message boards...either for advice, to seek out like minded people or for symphathy.

Check out the Back Home forum. There are quite a few upbeat/positive stories.

The majority on the first page alone are on the positive side of the scale.

We moved back in 2016 after eight years in Australia. Very happy and love being home.

We had been in the USA for 29 years and retired. In 2016 we decided to rent a house in England and spend summers there but after 4 weeks back we were already so settled that after a few months we returned to the USA for a couple of months to sell up and return for good.

A year later our son returned to England, same town as us, got a job within a few weeks and bought a house. We are all loving it, and don’t see us ever moving back to the USA even though we had a very good experience over there.

Moved back last year after 13yrs in New Zealand .. The first 3 months were quite stressful sorting out a place to rent with a dog and then buying a place in the right area but after that its been great .. As happy as Larry.

I came back at the age of 63 although I had planned to spend the rest of my life as an exile. Now 71 and getting by. Small-town life in Scotland can get me down sometimes but......"So it goes" as Kilgore Trout used to say.

Moved back in May 2014 and loving it! Only cloud apart from the ones in the sky, is the fact that my husband has to apply for visas to be able to stay. When that process is completed next year, I will be totally relaxed....well, apart from Brexit! We live in London and I just love the walks I can take to explore each area.

We spent a total of 38 years abroad (US, Germany and Canada mostly). I retired in mid 2015 and we immediately came back to the UK and to France. We're off to the latter again next Tuesday.

No regrets at all.

It would be in your interest to get New Zealand citizenship for the whole family if you have not done so already. Having New Zealand citizenship enables your family members to return to New Zealand at any time - just in case things don't work out in the UK.

I've been back to the UK for 6 months now after being away for 20 years in vibrant HK. I enjoy being back as I still have family and old friends here. The only reason I'm "not happy and looking for sympathy here" is my husband needs a spouse visa in order to move back with us....
