Talking Ahhhhh memories for those 40+

Does anyone remember the Tony Blackburn kids radio show on Saturday mornings? Also Ed Stewpot?
There was always a regular batch of kids fave songs every week.

Well, i was surfing youtube to find some for my little grandchildren as they are staying over tonight. Here is one of my favourites. I havent heard this for years!!

Brilliant, pop pickers.

Talking of Saturdays, how about:

Swap Shop
OTT
Spit the Dog and Cough the Cat

He was in the first episodes of Open All Hours but you never see them shown. I remember listening to the chart countdown on the radio Sunday evenings over dinner.

Yes and even going to the trouble of putting a notice on your bedroom door "taping, do not enter"! I think I still have some of those tapes from way back when - will have to look them out for real nostalgia!

OMG I remember doing that on a Sunday evening. Listening to the whole top 40 just to record about 5 of your favorite songs. I then started taping my favorite bands on TOTP on a Thursday. I filled up a 3 hour VHS tape but never watched it. Must have spent hours doing it!

Think I must be a tad older. My favourite of the time was "hello children everywhere, uncle mac's radio show".. in the 50's...never missed it, a Saturday must!
Of all the things I have lost, I miss my mind the most.....

Talking of tapes...I still have a stack of cassettes from the Early 70's and 'fluff' aka Allan Freeman and his Saturday Rock show. The hay day of Prog Rock.....some great stuff...Camel, Renaissance , pink Fairies, Zeppelin etc to name a few...intend transferring them all to PC Hard drive/CD this coming winter.....

Have managed to get Led Zep 4 on CD, but now need Led Zep 2 (didn't like the others so much!) Have just looked in the cupboard and have a vinyl copy () of Camel's Snow Goose.... Somewhere on tape, I know I have Hocus Pocus by Focus....! not sure where all the tapes went - probably in the cupboard with all the vinyls...Really ought to transfer them to CD but need one of those turntables that convert things from vinyl to CD. Guess what I'll be asking Father Christmas for this year!!!

Well worth doing to be sure! However would caution against the type of unit you describe. They will do the job but have serious limitations re editing the music before copying it to CD etc. You can remove some scratching, ticks etc from the Vinyl but it is limited and can detract from other aspects of the recording.

If you have lots of vinyl to do, would suggest you consider buying a turntable (such as the SONY PS-LX250H) connecting it to the sound card of your PC, permitting you to transfer (play) the raw recording onto your PC Hard drive, saving it there. Then with the use of suitable software such as DC 6 or similar, you can edit the saved track to your satisfaction before saving a master copy, which you can record onto CD, retain on your hard drive in a master folder, or convert to mp3 for you IPod....

P.S......As a bonus, Cassettes etc can be dealt with the same way using a standard hi fi system 'seperate' cassete player connected to your PC sound card as you would your turntable. Cassette tapes deteriorate over time too....so some of my early 70's stuff is being dealt with. It can be a time consumming exercise but a great winter project for us in the Great White North....

Not bad for a 60 something rocker eh.....

Enjoy....
