20ft Container from NZ to UK

Hi, I am sure this has been answered before but could only find old threads....has anyone recently (in the last 6 months) filled a 20ft container from NZ to the UK?

if so...how much did it cost? Who did you use?

Could you put a motorbike or two in one with the rest of your stuff?

I read on the PSS Removals site that you can put your car in a container and they over crate your vehicle and pack around it......

Thanks in advance....

NZ to UK NZ van lines $9k plus insurance we had slightly less than a full container so went groupage in a 40ft one $7500,
UK is not so picky as MAF but would check with shipper

what did you get into your container, ie 3 beds, 2 chests of drawers, 30 boxes etc?

Trying to figure out how big a container we will need and cubic feet just does not do it for me ;)

I filled a 20 footer with the following:

2 double beds including mattresses (frames were take-apart)
Kitchen table and chairs
Sofa and three small armchairs
Long coffee table and small desk
4 large rugs
Three chests of drawers
3 small bookshelves
Three bicycles
probably 30-40 boxes of books, clothes, CDs/DVDs, household goods, pictures, bedding, etc.
Garden tools (hand tools, no lawnmower - though I wished I had brought it!)

... I think a general guideline for a 20-footer is maybe a 2-BR house with most of the furniture shipped. I had a 3-BR house but didn't ship all the furniture and the third bedroom was just a spare room. The container was pretty much full to the gills (though the packers were rubbish so I think I could have got more in if I had needed).

Glad to help - even with expertise in measurement, I was mystified by the whole cubic footage thing, too. Even "a 2-BR house" could mean anything, depending on how much of a hoarder someone is.

I just took a walk around the house and it's amazing what you forget you shipped - so, you can add to my post above:

Two wall mirrors
One standing mirror
One large wall clock
One cedar chest
various small items of furniture, mainly fold-up or take-apart things, like two sets of plastic shelving and a fold-up bedside table

- I dare say there are other things I have forgotten, or have sold since I came back, but I think I have covered almost everything major!
