Well I still dispute the figures, and just because they're from the home office would hardly make them beyond dispute!

However, putting that aside, what's the bet that 95% or more of these stabbings happen late at night to people who are either drunk, on drugs, or owing a lot of money to criminals?

I reckon as long as you don't put yourself in one of the above situations, chances are you WILL NOT GET STABBED!

Yep, the evidence is there for all to see. Every single person in the UK will be stabbed to death at some point, and it's not possible to find similar bad news about any other country on the net.

OMG, I am not sure that I can fit my stab proof vest into my backpack for next week - now I should be fine on the Qantas flight over but it will really need to be handy for when I arrive. Do you think I will need it on the Heathrow Express or can it wait until I get to Paddington where I can spend more time delving into the backpack to find it. I should definitely have it on for the Circle Line trip to Liverpool St, dont you think????

I wonder if I have got the right weight of vest - I only got the lightest one, it doesnt stop bullets, should I have got the heavy duty one? I didnt think that would fit in the backpack especially as now I am getting on in years and not as able to easily heft the backpack on when it weighs 20kg. Do you think I should have bought a helmet as well - you know, like the police have for riots? Would that be useful or do you think I would only need it in London?

OMG this is all doing my head in, I dont think I can cope with the anxiety of it all.

No actually I'm just like you. I crap myself every time I read a report of a murder and instantly want to flee to another country like Australia where there are no murders ever. Then I like to convince myself I've done the right thing by posting a link to the report on a forum designed to help people make a sensible, informed choice about whether to move back to the UK. I know the UK isn't perfect - the odds are I will be murdered here at some point, as you've shown. Just have to take my chances I guess. Do you have any more useful advice for this forum?

Since you won't let it drop, simon_avfc quipped that the first thing he would do upon return to the UK is buy a knife for self defence, and this reminded me of a report I had seen on local news about the level of stabbings. A debate ensued. I posted a Home Office figure (dismissed, as you would imagine, although why the HO would invent a higher number of stabbings than really happened is beyond me) and then you wade in and start making asinine comments about how you're certain to get stabbed upon your return to Britain, etc. None of this constitutes my giving advice to anyone, does it now? So, I have advice for you only: read whole threads before you comment on them.

And do you understand that while you can dismiss knife crime with a stupid comment, it has actually affects the lives of tens of thousands of people in Britain every year and ruins the lives of hundreds of families?

We interupt this broadcast to tell you that another person has been stabbed to death in Bolton. I did tell backagen to reply to my post before anyone else got stabbed to death, looks like he was too late. Also, man suffers "mutliple stab wounds" at Scotland's T in the Park. Neither of these guys is to be confused with the five people who were stabbed to death two days ago.

How many will be stabbed to death before the end of the week? Let's make a sportsman's bet.
