Cafe Clock (www.cafeclock.com), an acclaimed cafe/restaurant in the historic medina of Fez is looking for a dedicated chef/manager or managing couple to oversee operations. This is a full time position supervising employees and ensuring that all of our customers receive quality service and refreshment. The cafe is primarily an English speaking environment, with our servers and primary cooks all speaking English. However, due to our diverse local and international clientele, some knowledge of French or Arabic is beneficial, but not required. The work environment at Cafe Clock is professional, yet supportive and encouraging as well.
Nearly five years old, Cafe Clock is a unique establishment in the ancient medina of Fez. The brainchild of Mike Richardson, former maître d'hôtel at London’s exclusive The Ivy and Wolseley restaurants, it is truly a “cross cultural cafe”. As Lonely Planet Morocco’s featured pick for dining in the Fez medina, our customers expect and we hold ourselves to very high standards. We are a gathering place for local Moroccans, international expats, and visiting tourists. Our imaginative menu is a blend of traditional Moroccan along with international favourites. Activities are also a vital part of the Clock’s culture, and include cooking school, Sunday night concerts, movie nights, calligraphy classes, and much more. Additionally, we are looking to expand our footprint to Marrakech and beyond, so this is a great chance to grow with our brand.
Cafe Clock is a fantastic place to work - the staff and clients together ensure a pleasant and fun atmosphere. Salary for this position is dependent upon experience and will be further discussed during the interview, however the cost of living in Fez is very low, and allows for an excellent quality of life. The city itself is fascinating, with many cultural events and unique sites, and Cafe Clock resides in the heart of it. We will provide suitable housing and assist with other aspects of making the transition to a new life here in Fez. Also included is an intensive course in the local Arabic dialect, as well as opportunities for continued study. This is an excellent learning opportunity for anyone who is interested in opening their own establishment, as Mike will teach all aspects of the business.
