No, no and no. Unless you work for the Sovereign Wealth Funds or the Military or Police.

Stop worrying.

Worked with someone who had a spent conviction (albeit not drug related), he wasn't asked any questions, and I've never heard of anybody else being asked either.

Exactly, as long as you're not stupid and make up jobs that you never did at companies you never worked for in the MIDDLE EAST, you will be OK.

Probably only an issue if your job requires a police check/clearance as ours (me & hubby) do, then it would show and be a problem if you have lied. If they don't routinely police check / clear you then I wouldn't mention unless directly asked.

And even if you are directly asked which you won't be), deny it and withdraw your application.

if it's oil & gas industry, they will do a background check. I've known people fail their background checks. this is simply for national security.

You would say that you are a changed person, wouldn't you. Quite frankly, if you were a drug dealer only a few years ago then I don't really think places like the UAE, Singapore or Malaysia are for you. Why not try Australia or New Zealand instead? Sorry to be blunt but I absolutely detest drug dealers...I am shocked by the responses from others on here. What on earth is wrong with you people? Get a grip, we are dealing with a convicted felon not somebody who may have been wrongly sentenced. Grr!
