Working in Dubai

Friend just phoned me advising they've been offered a job in Dubai. Can anyone clarify any suggestions please? Apparantly the job offer is selling property on a commission only basis. Flight out is paid.

I thought this was where they put you in jail for whatever & that its been on tv about people leaving their cars at the airport & leaving Dunai cos they're in debt??

Any advise I can pass on, would be greatly appreicated. Thanks in advance

A job offer in Dubai selling property on a commision only basis?

No accommodation? health care? yearly flights?

I wouldn't touch it.

Advise them to say no.

Yeah, don't go near it with a barge pole. In the past, when it was a sellers market, commission only wouldn't have been that much of a problem.

However, this is now a buyer's market, and there aren't an awful lot of them around at the moment.

You could put another 'Slant' on things, and consider starting a 'Repossession and Recovery Company!' - This will probably be the next 'Boom Industry!'

Err, no chance not me. I just bought a house with a secure job. Dubai is one of the places that has never appealed to me.

Just phoned him. Seems most of his friends are telling him to give it a miss, barring his partner who is all for it.......ah well, I've done my best. Its up to him. Feel sorry for him though - its only because he's so desperate to get some/any work. It is tough on some people. I can do no more.

aww, bless him! I've got a funny feeling his partner may have been wowed by the glitter!

The job would be like living in London on commission-only, apart from you don't get any free healthcare, no help from the government if things go pear-shaped and if you default on a credit card or loan, well, what you've heard is pretty much true. There are no safety nets here.
