Work across maktoum bride - where to live?

Work across maktoum bride - where to live?
I would love to live in or near the Marina, BUT I will be working in Deira. With commutes and rents what they are, is there an area that you would recommend living somewhere in the middle?
Also, what is the issue with International City? Is it OK to live there?

At the moment you would get stuck a bit at the Defence roundabout but that should be better when the roadworks there are completed.
Otherwise there are some nice apartments on SZR around the Trade centre area.

I was thinking Gardhoud and Festival City area, some areas of Deira are nice as well.

I will check out all of your recommendations. When we were on the scouting mission, we stayed in Bur Dubai by the Burjuman center. We found that there was a traffic pinch point to Deira and also to the SZR side.
We are open to where to live. We visited the Marina several times and really liked the area.

I wouldnt want to drive down to Deira everyday from the Marina, not much fun that really.
