The last beacon of civilization to crumble to nagging women. It will all go down hill now.

No idea about the law but I am certain that reverse parking will be a problem in any case.

FYI USA that modern country who claim to be liberal and equality didnt give women that right until 1923 which is just 87 years ago !! you might find some old women who catch that time .

also Switzerland with all banking and money stuff didnt give women that right until 1971 , 40 years ago .

No.

That said my family where puddlers (making Iron), coal miners and railway engineers during the industrial revolution, their lives where set by the social class they were born into, their family business and their futures very certain (your job was your fathers job). Would I swap my life now to join them? No, of course not.

Without people willing to abandon the safety of conventional wisdom or thought we would be nowhere near as wealthy, educated or prosperous. Through science and technology we have transformed our knowledge of the world and our view of our place in it.

Human intellect is “the well that never runs dry” for us and abandoning the safety of preserving knowledge in an unchanged state (we joke in science that textbooks are out of date by the time the ink had dried) had paid dividend again and again from modern medicine to agriculture and industry. The more we drink form the well the more knowledgeable, thoughtful and foreseeing we have become. It’s not merely a ritual for us, it bothers some of us that cancer hasn’t been cured, children go to bed hungry, we’ve become a real threat to each other and we are making a mess of our planets environment, the human habitat.

These problems and others need answers. If we simply say “Society is the way it is and change or progress is slow”. People are dying and problems are not being solved while old men scratch their chins considering if society could move towards joining us in doing something meaningful for humanity.

who wants to bet the number that turn up to vote will be low because
(a) they need a man to drive them to the polls
(b) the polls will be segregated in gender so their men cannot drive them there
(c) their owners/male relatives will "forget" to tell them they are allowed to vote

Recently in both Riyadh and in Jeddah ladies have been driving around and yes they have been stopped by ole pc plod,
Not a lot happened to them just a few hours in the jail and a slap on the wrist.

Lets face it here i dare say a lot of the women will be much better drivers than the Male local drivers here.
They cannot be any worse now can they !!!!!

Driving is not a big or main problem for women here , but the western media blow it and making a false picture about Saudi women.

i always said that we are a TOTALLY different culture don`t make a wrong comparison between western and Saudi culture .

like in western culture when the kids become adult "over 18 " many parents kike them out then they kids leave home and never come back . which something unfair for little girls to live alone she will do anything to eat even if she sell her body to be a hooker .

sometime we read that UK government assist Gays marriage and community , which is TOO much weird for us .and like going backwards to the old ages when the humans live like animals .

But for me I try to accept all the differences .so i hope you do .

We kick our children on to the streets at 18! You have got to be kidding! I know many 25 - 30 year olds still at home.
The problem with Saudi culture is you're trying to westernise. The US American way is inching in. What's the point in educating your women to such a high level then marrying them off to a Arabian cave man? It's the US that's taking over the world not KSA unfortunately.

You mean like how the Arab media makes false pictures about the West, Jews, etc?

There is no comparison between Saudi and Western culture...by all means highlight problems in the West - we, unlike Saudis will admit we have them and not accuse you of racism for being an outsider criticising us.

Just keep in mind all the modern technology you have comes from us infidels...your internet, TV, radio, cars, aircraft...we make and you buy. When the oil money runs out we'll still be creating - what will you be doing?

If you think that about western culture you know as much as you think we do about Saudi culture...

Funny you say that. Most of the planet say Saudis treat women and non-muslims like animals.

Perhaps you do and are to be commended for it. It doesn't sound like you know anything about the West beyond what you are taught by your media and leaders though.

Good for you, maybe stopping public executions would be a good step next?
