Default Will UK appliances work in Doha?

Hey guys

Please could someone advise if UK appliances (i.e. TV's, Kitchen Appliances, other electrical) work in Doha? If so, do I need any special converters or plug adapters?

Thanks

They will work fine, same voltage as UK and the outlets are standard 3-pin plugs.

If you plan to buy appliances here, check which plug type they have fitted, as both 2-pin and 3-pin are common.

Houses tend to be sparse on electrical outlets, unlike UK Building Regs., so suggest you bring some extension leads with multiple outlets.

Don't buy any electrical adaptors here, they will likely be cheap Chinese tat, and a health hazard.

I was told in ACE (in Dubai) that they are no longer allowed to sell devices with 2 pin plugs. Dunno if doha is the same.

Good news tho as they have always been a fire waiting to happen!

I am sure that the UAE government banned 2 pin plugs a couple of years ago. They gave something like 6 months notice then asked shops to empty shelves straight away.

The Qatari government has no such worries..

My mate brought his two pin electric shaver out here and told me it didn't work. I spent an hour trying all my sockets, plugs, adaptors, extensions till he told me it didn't work in UK and he brought it out for repair.
