DH has just moved, and found a place to stay. However, I'm guessing its in the middle of the desert (sarcasm) because there are not many stores around where he can just walk down and ask for stuff.

He needs some handyman services, cleaning services and laundry services to start off with.

What is the normal process? Are there websites where we can place and ad for the kind of services we need and then its upto the businesses to contact us with quotes?

I'm still trying to help him get a few basics done before we land there.

a quick google search for dubai maids will bring up hundreds of cleaning companies.

All around 35dh/ hour - minimum is normally 3 hours. All much the same.

Dubai Laundry serves the Jumeira area. They do deliveries and pick up.

Word of warning: all laundries in Dubai only wash in very hot water and with insane amount of detergent, so clothes do become damaged more often (fraying collars on shirts barely a year old for example). If you use a laundry service there is no way around it. Best is to run your own washer and use the laundry service for ironing, or your agency maid to iron.

i recently came across an app called 'swiffix' - they do all handy work from electricians, to plumbers, to carpentry, to maintenance etc in Dubai....I haven't used them yet but have had chats with them and I will be trying them out for my AC cleaning and maintenance. They have said all their handymen are fully qualified in their respective fields. I also found them to be very reasonable in their quotes compared to other companies.

by the way I just made my booking - they will be arriving 12.45pm to sort out my 2 AC units - will update on how they get on.

so dude has been and gone and seems to have done a pretty good job. I only got charged a total of AED 105 for 2 AC units - every other company I contacted wanted at least AED 150-250 per unit. Based on this experience I would highly recommend this app.
