For apartments, Greens/Marina/Al Barsha are probably your best bets..

Prices are going up almost weekly so best bet would be to check out real estate agents websites like bhomes.com etc...

Why would you want to move away from the UK and then live in a British community? Other nationalities really are OK!

Do you get 'British Communities' here? I'm not sure you do. As per the others tho, other nationalities are great to mix in with.

JBR is out if you've got pets.

All depends how much you've got. Discovery Gardens seems quite a nice area. Its right near all the Ibn Battuta Mall which has got a huuuuuuge supermarket. From what I can gather discovery gardens is still fairly "cheap" too.

I was talking to an estate agent and she told be it's rubbish about pets in JBR. The letters that went out had apparently been put together by residents who were not pet friendly.

If you look at statistics, the amount of Brits here are like rats are in London - you're never more then 10 ft away from one.

Where is your girlfriend going to live?

Joke - but be aware that it is slightly risky to live together whilst unmarried. No problem with the cats though - you don't need to marry them.

..at least I don't think you do.

Slightly risk to live together whilst unmarried? No. It is illegal.

We are in the same situation like the two of you (except one year younger and no pets ) and we expect to pay around 200 000 AED per year.

Al BArsha is ok once you get used to it, right behind amll of emirates, quite cheap, big supermarket called Lulus nearby, little cafes and stuff - its a bit of a building site at the moment but its pretty handy.
