Hi Marco. Khalidiya is the "upmarket" end of town - close to the Marina Mall, Khalidiya Mall, Hilton & Intercon hotels...

Corniche is down the road from there - sea views & proximity to Millenium, Meridien & Crowne Plaza...

People value proximity to hotels because this is where the nightlife is at...

A one bed on the Corniche, if you can find one, is gonna be 110K DH plus per annum.

Where will you be working? If it is off the Island you may want to consider KCA?

I only remember that the place where I will work is near to the Etisalat head office and it is not that far away from Sheraton Khalidiya Hotel, where I was staying in my two days in AD for the interview...
sorry for the lack of details but the address I have is only a PO box....

Nessun problema.... OK, in that case, you do really want to live around Khalidiya or Corniche if you can. Traffic is heavy around that area.

but is AD traffic as crasy as Dubai?
My original idea was to search for housing not exactly in the very center (Khalidiya or Corniche)... I was thinking about living... near to the beach, maybe . But where's the beach in AD and how long would it take me to go to the center in the rush hours???

Traffic is nowhere near as crazy as Dubai - it's just heavy in the morning & evening rush-hours & it takes up to 3 changes to get through the traffic lights.

for that budget it would be mussfah, other areas off island FYI KCA, KCB, Raha and then local housing areas (where expats are not allowed to rent anyhows) such as Baniyas, Mafraq, Bahia, Shahama, Fahal, Rabha.
