So it's time for a new suit... Without breaking the bank, do I trust any of the bespoke tailors here, or should I just go off the peg? Any advice?

1. Get a ticket to Bangkok
2. Have a tailored suit or two made for you.
3. Enjoy the 3 days in Bangkok while the suit(s) is being stitched....

Satwa.
The place I've had all mine made here is Viva Style Lounge. Always done a good job and you can haggle.
Failing that, fly to Vietnam and go to Hoi An. I got one made overnight for 80 quid. It's like a glove. It makes me look even more handsome and impressive than ever.

Hubs has always been very pleased with Whistle & Flute at Satwa. Good service at reasonable prices.......‘for the discerning gentleman’.

I just got a suit made this month - at 1000 dhs (including 2 pairs of trousers) I thought that even if it turned out to be horrible, it was still cheaper than any off-the-shelf suit I've ever bought. In fact it turned out great. My only recommendation would be to make sure you go to a tailor that's been recommended to you, rather than just picking one at random.

We use Ascot and Chapel's, handy as they have an outlet in Marina Mall

Dunno about Dubai. In Khobar I used Modern tailors. Better workmanship than stuff I had made in Thailand !

I've always used Kachins and no complaints so far. Even better now that they have a place off Al Sufouh road.

Every decent 'gentleman's outfitters' has a sale on now, mostly with a genuine 75 pct off. I got one at Balmain (it needed a small alteration here and there for which I was charged AED 125); there is also a sale at Moda, and just about every shop along the ground floor at Festival City (as you walk along from Ferrari).
