Lightbulb What would be an adequate salary?

Hi,

I have a question about a salary for somebody who is coming with their partner to the UAE.
What do you think an adequate salary request would be when asked for how much would one make in a year (including everything). Company: Western company (British, German, etc) Position: Marketing, HR, Public Relations, Branding
Title: a) Assistant Manager b) Junior Manager c) (Senior) Manager

Experience: About 4 years (not all in one spefic field, but all fitting to the fields of Marketing, HR, Advertising, PR, Event, Branding)
Education: Graduate degree (equivalent to Master's)

Could you give me an estimate on what you would ask for a, b and c?

Thank you!

PS: I know you can't give exact numbers, I just want to know your personal opinion if you have one

Have a read of the forums to see what kind of cost of living people have and what kind of packages are on offer and you'll get a rough idea would be a start

I am more interested in salaries there in this field, since most people in the forum who stated their salary where recruited from overseas for building projects etc.

ask a recruitment consultant, or spend some time going through past posts.

As Bob says, there is lots of wage related stuff - and its not all construction related.

Hi,

It will vary wildly betwen industries, however in events, media, etc I would put these figures as approx entry salary:

Title:

a) Assistant Manager (executive?) 7-13k per month
b) Junior Manager 10-18k per month
c) (Senior) Manager 15-30k per month

It is rare I think that you get "packages" in marketing so your salary has to include most expenses like in other countries - no seperate housing payments etc

That said titles also vary wildly - in some companies a manager level will be a director level in others.

There was a salary survey a while back by either Arabian Business or Campaign magazine online - try a search...

Others may have opinions?

Cheers,

Auto

The salary survey is great!

I looked at the Marketing jobs and as I understand the salary quoted there is basically what people are making since they are not receiving housing allowance etc.

Then I looked at Construction Jobs (my husband works in that industry) and now I have a questions. If e.g. a Job there states that the person would make 45.000 AED a month, would that INCLUDE OR EXCLUDE housing allowance, flights home, moving bonus, relocation allowance, car allowance ....?

It would normally:

Include:

Basic
housing allowance
car allowance

Exclude:

medical
flights home,
moving bonus,
relocation allowance

It varies from company to company though. So best to ignore the individual components and concentrate on just the total/gross package...
