Default Wearing Shorts in Public in Riyadh

I mean men, not chix...

I like to walk and this heat is ok but I am a lot happier in my Gilbert Rugby shorts and trainers.

Is that frowned upon or definitely not allowed or ok?

Below knee shorts should be okay.

In my opinion above knee shorts should only be worn when taking part in sporting activities or sun-bathing/swimming...

I saw a middle-aged dude running on the Khobar corniche about a month ago in what looked like hotpants and nearly lost my lunch..

6 years since I lived in Riyadh, so my info may be updated.

Below knee shorts in public, acceptable, but very rare.

Rugby style shorts in public seen as something between offensive and ridiculous (similar to walking round London in your underpants).

You may get Matawa'd in your Rugby shorts, and attract (the wrong kind of) attention in your below knee shorts.

One of the pains in the butt when I was there was having to walk round in jeans in 40 degree heat.

All I can say is the Hebrews have got nothing to worry about. These people can't organise a party in a Bird's shop.
