We Finally Decided...
... to go to Thailand for out honeymoon in August. We are going to Koh Yao Island for two weeks. We know it will be coming up to the peak of the rainy season out there at that time (20th August to 3rd September) but our friend, a seasoned traveller, says it's not too bad. He says it never, ever rains torrentially all day, but might chuck it down for an hour or so.
Can anyone corroborate this? Are we completely stupid, or actually quite clever? I don't mind a bit of rain now and then - in fact I love it - especially if it's not going to be cold as well. Going then might just mean that there won't be many tourists around so it will be more peaceful. In addition we have found a really good bargain. |

Think you might be better off posting this in the Far East section.
Although saying that I went to Koh Samui last year in July and the weather was great. Rained most days for about an hour mid afternoon but nothing to worry about came and went very quickly. Enjoy :) |
Re: We Finally Decided...
FD I have wanted to try Koh Samui for a while, where did you stay and did FD Jnr enjoy??? Have you been to the Maldives and if so which did you prefer???
;) |
Re: We Finally Decided...
BC, Koh Samui is much better than the Maldives!!! There are loads of good places to stay...keep away from Chaweng Beach and you'll be fine. We stayed in the Santiburi, with a villa on the beach, and it was really fab... http://www.samui-hotels.com/santiburi/index.htm

Re: We Finally Decided...
Why would anyone on honeymoon be bothered about the weather?

I looked for that but for some reason didn't see it. I will post my original message there too. |

We have lived together for five years. We're as if married already, only not legally. We're bothered about the weather as we'll spend most of the time outside. Like I said, we're already like a married couple. ;)
Excuse my manner; I'm stuck in Doha without my wife and without any Frankie. |
