Are we crazy to pay AED16K for Health Club Membership?
My wife and I are looking to join a health club in Abu Dhabi. We are living in the city centre and our preference is for somewhere close. We have looked at the facilities and rates for the Sheraton, Le Meridien, Al Ain Palace, Royal Meridien Beach Rotana.
At first we were shocked at the prices but have now accepted that it is another one of abu dhabis money spinners.
We really like the Beach Rotana and have negotiated the yearly rate for a couple (no children) to AED16,000. Thats the best we can get. However, I am starting to wonder are we crazy to be paying this amount. I would appreciate your advice.

if you use the facilities a lot and get a lot out of it then i think it's worth a punt.
It could be pretty good value if you both use it 3-4 times a week including weekends.

16k is alot but we reckon we would use it at least 3 times a week and it would be somewhere for my wife to go when im working (without ******** staring at her). the facilities and pool are great but your right the beach itself isnt the best. rotana are unwilling to accept monthly payments and will only offer 11k for 6 months (about 70% of the cost for 50% of the time). Maybe we will have to give it more thought..

I understand - so could you please confirm it will be OK for me and a few other regulars here to stare at her then............ I'm what the Americans call a WASP ("White Anglo-Saxon Protestant").
Happy with that?

You cannot be serious! As for 16K being a bargain, you likewise must be joking. Dubai pretends to be a five star resort when in actual fact its a tacky town in a Third World country. Remove the outer veneer and its true colours are revealed in almost every walk of life.
