Default VPN's. Again.

Hi,

Can somebody PM me with a reliable and not so expensive VPN service? The Mrs come out here on Tuesday and she will want to watch BBC crap online so need a VPN to mask the IP address - as discussed in an earlier thread.

Thanks in advance

We followed the advice given by other BE members and chose witopia.com

If you're talking about accessing the TV programmes on the BBC iPlayer, it won't work through Witopia. Witopia gives you an IP address in the USA, which will be rejected by the iPlayer. You can access BBC radio programmes worldwide, but you have to have a UK IP address to access the TV stuff.

If you're talking about using torrents, then the best UK TV download sites can be accessed without needing a VPN (at the moment, anyway).

If anyone's got a recommendation for a VPN that gives you a UK IP address, I'd be interested.

I'm a Brit currently living in America but I'm moving to AD at the end of Aug. I've been using a SSH tunnel to access the BBC iplayer from the States as it gives me a UK IP address. Does basically the same thing as a VPN. Here's the company I use. It's a bit more expensive than a VPN but for me it's worth it.

You will need to download third party free software to access the SSH either "Putty" for windows or "iSSH" for mac.

I use HotSpotVPN. About £6 a month. However it is also USA based. Is using a VPN to surf actually against UAE law? Or just a clever legal way around the proxy?
