I've been out here just a few weeks but Skype has worked from day one. Skype to landline as well. I followed the advice of some people on here and downloaded it before I came out.

don't want you cheating the service out of money over here which is why they block it...

I have downloaded VBuzzer which works like skype. The main vbuzzer site is blocked but when i googled vbuzzer i was able to download it via another site talkchaep.com or talkcity.com (it was about 3rd page of google results)
Good luck

Doesn't it depend on which telecoms company serves your area? I'm in a Du area and both Skype-to-Skype and video calling via msn works perfectly. Haven't bothered with Skype-to-landline cos the grandparents invariably want to see the family too...

Definately worth it, and $39.99 a year is nothing for the privelage!!

Bison,
Which VPN do you use? I am happy with vbuzzer for phone calls but will happily pay the fee each year to watch tv programmes!!!

Freecalls is the good solution in my opinion.

Fireman,
You can download a free VPN called Hotspot Shield/Anchor Free which will allow you to download Skype
