Twinkle,
I took Mrs Scratcher to Oman last weekend, through the Hatta border. She had a 30day stamp which we confirmed at the DNRD office was actually valid for 60 days. We returned through the Hatta border two days later and she received a 60 day stamp without any problems at all. Mrs Scratcher has an Italian passport.

you are contradicting yourself.

If you entered the country 60 days ago and had 30days stamped on your passport, and you have been here 60days then i would say your in trouble. Take your purse with you.

I could be wrong though, it has been known

The reason the stamp says '30 days' for a '60 day' Visa, is because although the rules changed a few years ago, they haven't yet got around to changing the stamps.

And no, I'm not joking.

It's still 60 days according everyone I know who is still doing it (canadian, brit etc)...and it's easier to fly, you get a cup of tea and a biscuit.

Schratcher,
did you decide to stay in Oman a couple of days for Leisure? And was it the first renewal of a Visa? Sorry for pestering but Mrs. Romano and I are going this Thu and she's VERY nervous (and rightly so) about it, she's has already renewed the visa once (Hatta border).
