visa question for residents
My parents are residents of dubai but both on holiday and not contactable at the moment.
I have a question on the new visa laws, i usually come to dubai for a few months (came home in july so was under old rules then) and so do a visa run to oman. Now the regulations are 30 days as i understand, i presumed i could still do a run to oman (staying a few days if need be) and would then have another 30 days again, but on other sites they are saying this may be wrong and that i will have to leave or pay a fee to extend.(have no problem paying fee) I cannot go home though, i have a 1 way ticket, i am coming from uk on british passport on the 21st nov to dubai, i will stay for 2 months and depart on 21st january for sydney (i have a permanent residence visa and so starting new life in oz) Any advise thank you kelly |
Re: visa question for residents
From what I understand you will get the standard 30 day visa and can pay 500dhs to extend for a further 30 days so you will still be just over 60 days, I presume you can then pay a fine for the couple of days you overstay.

Re: visa question for residents
i think that is what they are stopping the visa runs to nearby countries, etc you need to go back to home country but best checking with immigration. for exempted countries the embassy have told me that nothing so far has changed, if it does the new rules mean that you can get a 30 day or a 90 day visa with the 30 day costing you 100dhs.

Here you go...
http://britishexpats.com/forum/showt...ght=visa+rules visa runs are definately something UAE are looking to curtail/stop, but you can still do them- at a higher price. |
Re: visa question for residents
my mother arrived a few days back, didn't have to pay 100 dhs on arrival or provide insurance ;)

Our HR did state that there are no longer visa runs to Oman for anyone and the maximum someone from the Uk can stay in the UAE is 90 days and then has to return to their home country and start again on the merry go round |
Re: visa question for residents
my understanding was that holders of uk passports would still get 60 days for free on arrival, along with a few other nationalities (cant remeber which )

Re: visa question for residents
Can you not just hop out of the country and back in to get a longer visa?

yes if you are a British Passport holder, you can still do it, these new rules don't apply to us, it was in the Gulf News the other day.
