Villa deal in Abu Dhabi too good?
I don't get how a 6 bed/5 bath villa can ask for AED300,000...i thought a 3-bedder in Al Raha Gdns was going for the same...what gives?
Found it on Better Homes website (www.bhomes.com)...the specific page with the villa pic is as follows: http://www.bhomes.com/UAE/residentia...as/26996.xhtml anyway, i'm only moving in oct so the market will prolly be very diff then :( |
Re: Villa deal in Abu Dhabi too good?
it's probably already gone...if it existed in the first place...

There is nothing in MBZ except a national school and housing-it very much does have the 'living in a desert' feel about the place. The houses are nice;the one highlighted I suspect has already rented say 3 moths ago. You will get houses today in MBZ for 250-300 for sure but it takes more than fancy bricks and mortar to make a cosy hacienda and comfortable living environment.I couldn't live in MBZ but know people who do so quite happily. Oh and 35min commute is more realistic hth |
Re: Villa deal in Abu Dhabi too good?
it wouldnt bother me living over in certain parts of MBZ if i had to which may be next year, but next year there will be more places available, and MBZ will have grown up as well.

For most of us. I know you have your own specialist form of transport:) |
Re: Villa deal in Abu Dhabi too good?
i would say around 45 mins going down al salam st, with all the developments/contraflows/roadworks/people missing the new sets of traffic lights etc etc.

Re: Villa deal in Abu Dhabi too good?
thanks, BB and Eva.
was just debating the same with DH - living in a well-established community (ie al raha with 1,000 families, kca, etc) vs. a 6-villa compound like the advertised one at sheikh zayed where there are prolly fewer opportunities for the kids to make friends, etc.... i am all for the former coz i'm a working mum and its impt for me that the kids develop an independent social network... as for the 35 min commute mentioned, i suppose that is to the town area? if work/school for us are all in the off-island areas, i'm just wondering - is there a real need to travel much to the main town (ie khalidiya/corniche) area? never been to AD so am rather ignorant  |
Re: Villa deal in Abu Dhabi too good?
well if you are off island for school and work then yes you dont need to travel on island for much, you may do a weekly shop at car4 which is only just 'on' island and 10 mins away from kca, and you can now go to spinneys at mangrove which from kca is about 8 mins away so if you dont need 'shops' then yes you dont need to venture too far, only on a weekend for retail therapy and if you need something doing, you can get laundries/fast food/perfume/pharmacies/pet shop/vets/medical/schools/supermarkets/petrol etc all off island now.....yipee before you didnt.

Re: Villa deal in Abu Dhabi too good?
Nina, the majority of the people you will be working with are downtown (i.e. island) based. Most business happens downtown too, including the main retail and leisure activities that BB2 mentions. If you live off island, I don't think you can avoid the commute..but I am told it isn't so bad. Bit like Johar Bahru without passport control and less traffic...

Kinda amazing that we are now thinking that 300,000 Dirham is a good deal! That is over 80,000 USD!
