Default Vague DEWA question...

does anyone know this....if you own an appartement, does DEWA charge you a monthly fee of around 1200 dhs on top of the normal bill...this is an appartment on the Palm...

Yes, but it is charged as a % of the market value of the apartment (like how tenants are chrged 5% of their annual rent) and it is over and above your normal water/electricity consumption bill.

ok...that makes some sort of sense...
and do you know, is that a new thing this year cause this person claims she never paid that last year....

No, not a new thing. It's just that the municipality were having a hard time collecting the fees, so DEWA is doing it on behalf of the municipality. Many have not got slapped with this fee yet, but when they do, they will be made to pay it with arrears.

It is basically .005% of the market value of the property. This amount is then divided by 12 to arrive at the monthly figure.
