Default Urgent advice needed regarding medical charity in UAE.

I know of a Filipino family that has a child who has been diagnosed with a very serious medical condition (life threatening and requiring urgent care). They have some basic insurance but even still the condition may not be covered. Their doctor has (informally) advised them that they will not get adequate treatment in the UAE even if the insurance covers it.

I have heard before that there are various charity organisations that operate in the UAE and will arrange for children to be treated in the US or Europe but I don't know where these are or how to get in contact with them.

Any suggestions or pointers would be most welcome, thanks.

I do not know of any charities personally, but one of the best ways to maybe highlight their situation, and therefore attract suitably wealthy donors, would be to contact 7 days or Gulf News to run a story on their situation. I have seen this done before and it has had results in that a local benefactor has come forward to finance the treatment.....nothing ventured nothing gained!!!

Thanks Dubaiexile, I think that is probably the best route for them.

Best to fly them back to the phills. Cheaper and better all round.

Do Google, you will find many charity organizations in UAE, specially in Dubai.

When we were in Dubai, one of my daughters friends became terminally ill and went to Switzerland for treatment. Her school, the ballet school and a number of other organisations held their own fund raising days to contribute to her treatment.

but that isn't "treatment" that would require being flown to Switzerland.

She began treatment in 2010 and went into remission, she developed more tumours a year or so later and required treatment for a second time, she did not respond to treatment and died in 2014. Her chances were always slim, but every parent would have tried whatever they could to save their child. She was 11 years old when diagnosed and died the year she turned 15.

Yeah messes with your head if you think too hard about those things.
