Default Unmarried Pregnant Girlfriend

Hi All

After a little advice from the members if possible, 'if' your girlfriend/fiance fell pregnant whilst you were residents in Dubai is there a process to go through to get paperwork that essentially declares you as being married without actually having to have a ceremony etc?

Are there forms to complete that change your status?

We are planned to get married in the UK in 2016 which is clearly not early enough for pending birth of child

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Get married now.

If she gives birth whilst unmarried in the UAE she and bibs will be jailed and then deported.

What do you have to present to the authorities to prove you are married?

just the wedding photos.

oh, and a certified, stamped wedding certificate.

In the meantime, she mustn't go to a doctor here.

If we register the certificate with the court, do we have to provide it to the UK Embassy too for it to be recognised here?

With the wedding planned in the UK, we don't want to do what we need to do here then go home for them to tell us we're already married.

This is purely a paperwork exercise

Sounds like she is already pregnant. As previously stated she must not go to the Dr. They are obliged to tell the authorities and she will be jailed and then thrown out of the country. You might escape prosecution for having sex outside of marriage but could also be thrown out.

She is not already pregnant - what we want to do is start a family before we head back for our wedding - this may sound odd, but certain things arise that change circumstance.

We want to appear married - hence the paperwork - in Dubai but not necessarily in the UK so that when we go home we can get married as if this is the first time

You are making things complicated for yourselves. You'd be better off getting the civil ceremony done quickly so it's official.

Whilst getting married 'as if this is the first time' in the UK may be what you want, I'd be more worried about being out here, unmarried and pregnant.

It's an unnecessary risk, for example if your girlfriend falls pregnant and then needs medical attention (for any reason), if it comes out you're in a world of trouble.

I know plenty of friends have done a quick civil ceremony just to have peace of mind (and then having a church blessing back in the UK at some point).

How is the birth pending as you mentioned in your original post if she is not pregnant yet?

People have given you the answers, but you don't seem to be listening. You either are, or are not, married - it is as simple as that. There is no such thing, here or elsewhere, as a paperwork-but-not-really-married. And, as others have said, if you have out of marriage children in the UAE you are all in deep trouble.

So, either get married (here or in the UK), and get your fully legalised wedding certificate, or don't have children. As already said, you can still go ahead with your big ceremony on 2016, but it'll be a celebration, not a new wedding. Churches do that quite often these days...

I appreciate everyone's responses, and believe me I am listening. No one wants to end up in jail or deported.

I am just asking all questions that come into our heads - whether they seem simple or not.

From what I see you have only really two choices,

1. Get married in any sort of ceremony

2. Make really sure that she doesn't get pregnant.

Option 1 seems the simplest, and least problematical if you are going to be there gor any length of time.
