'unlocking' english phones
Anyone know where to get this done? I've got an LG Shine and I love it, but it won;t work with my SIM card over here, whenever I take it to somewhere that unlock phones they said 'LG, no, no',
I can get it done from my provider back home but it'll cost £15 and more importantly take 28 days,
I was going to buy a cheap phone out here to use but its a bit of a waste of time really,
anyone?

Google it...
I did this previously and found the unlocking software for a Nokia phone for free, and was therefore unable to unlock an old phone when I needed to. You may get lucky with the LG also.

i twice paid GBP 5 to a Persian geezer in Woking market - 5 minutes, job done both times!
I haven't really seen that sort of operation here in the markets, Bur D etc... probably no market for it as local phones don't have the locking/unlocking issue (or do they? I only have a cr@ppy one and I can switch between my DU and Orange sims no problem)

Also the phone shops in Karama will unlock phones. They also do a sideline in under-the-counter DVD's.....
