Uncancelled Visa

Hi all

I have an uncancelled employment visa in my passport for the UAE, will this be a problem when I return to the UAE? Other than this I have a clean record!!

Thanks

Why has it not been cancelled? You need to sort that out with your old sponsor.

if it wasn't cancelled cleanly then you were probably reported as absconded. You might be facing a labour ban.

what happens if the employer has not cancelled the visa and has not reported you as absconded? considering how organised some of the hr departments are here i'm sure this scenario happens..

would you still be in trouble? it's not like you can make an impact on whether the company bothers to go to MoL to cancel or not, but they do sometimes like to penalise the 'innocent' party...

how long has it been since you left (or since the visa was issued)? Visa currently last only 2 years before needing to be renewed. It will say on the visa in your passport. I also think (but am not sure) that if you are out of the country for more than 6 months the visa is cancelled.

Issue is that if the visa was not cancelled, then for each day it runs up a 25dhs fine after that. Not sure how long that lasts but would hazard a guess at 6 months, as you are correct in saying that if you leave the country for 6 months with a valid visa the it is cancelled at immigration on your return.

but if you aren't in the country that doesn't apply.

In that case I should have come to you for some information I needed last week not AD immigration, they may well have given our HR some incorrect information I will pass that on and tell them to look into it again.
