Default UKForex service to transfer money from UAE to UK

Hi

Has anyone used UKForex to transfer money from the UAE back to UK on a regular basis? Is this better than using the retail banks? Also has anyone had any issues with the company?

Thanks

S.

Hi - Happy New Year. They are a good company but always worth getting a few quotes - also try Halo Financial and MoneyCorp. Google them for contact info - all are FCA authorised and will provide you a better rate than your bank. All the best.

Used them a lot and never had a problem, much better rate than bank but as other user says worth getting a couple of quotes before deciding to see who offers most.

Be careful who you use: http://www.thenational.ae/business/o...out-permission

If you want a recommendation for a company I use personally and for all my clients - an authorised company with good practices and very competitive rates - send me a PM or contact me via the link in my signature.

I checked out both ukforex and halo financial, both regulated by the FCA so no worries there. UKforex is a bit tricker to set up as you need to register from your AD address (via post only) but Halo allow you to register from the UK which is much more convenient and quicker. Rates wise they are both quite competitive

The advice on that 'advert'...... er, sorry - I mean 'link'......... appears to be based wholly on your own ability to predict what an exchange rate will be in 24 hours time.

You can't. Even I can't - and I have been in the FX market for 35 years. I may have a gut feeling, or I may be able to say (with a reasonable degree of accuracy) how an exchange rate might move if the following day's economic data is this or that, but you have no monopoly on wisdom (i.e. if you can predict the effect of data to be released later, so can everyone else in the market - and will already be reacting to it...........). In your example, how would you have explained yourself to the lady if the rate had gone the other way (i.e. to 1.1650 or whatever)?

And what sort of amounts are we talking about here? A one big figure change in the exchange rate makes a difference of just ten euros on every one thousand pounds you are transferring.............. 25 pips means a difference of just EUR 2.50.
