Now that Qatar amd Oman have joined UAE on the UK’s red list, what are the options for travelling to the UK?

Are there any UK citizen/resident only flights directly from the UAE now or if going indirectly which way do people go? I suppose for those from Qatar, Turkey is probably a stop over...

UAE folks: have any of you travelled to the UK? What airlines did you use?

Forum Folks: have any of you written to your MP/ relevant ministers to reconsider this? I agree on the home quarantine requirement as means of managing the risk, but the hotel quarantine feels extreme at this point in the crisis given that broadly GCC countries have managed infections down significantly.

why would they reconsider? ... I’m sure there are all kinds of covid variants flouting round the Middle East due to the nature of the population ..... if you open it up to home quarantine everyone will be rushing back here on holiday again and we’ll go round in a circle.

plenty are already swerving the hotel quarantine

well the airlines are ticketing the routes so presumably yes

as it stands you can book via AMS FRA CDG and CAI .... all subject to change of course

Getting a ticket alone doesn't mean you're approved to travel. Using Saudi as an example, there are airlines that are selling tickets and operating regular flights to Saudi right now even though their own nationals are banned from entering the country due to Covid. So they are only allowed to transport a certain group of passengers (i.e. Saudi nationals, diplomats, healthcare workers etc.).

I recently flew to RUH via AMS cuz that was the only working option available besides DOH due to the above reasons.

If you have to travel then make sure that you transit through a country that's not on the red list (or you are not a citizen of a country that's on the red list unless you're explicitly approved to travel).

most if not all airlines wouldn’t allow you to travel if you cannot enter the country as they bear the responsibility or carrying you back. Part of the booking process is your own declaration that you meet whatever the requirements are.

What they will do is take your money online, then deny you boarding at check-in and if lucky then refund you after a no-show penalty.

of course they will if someone is stupid enough to book and pay for a ticket if they don’t meet the criteria for the destination much the same as if you booked a ticket without a visa.
