This is the latest draft from the HMRC by the way.

http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/budget-update...-test-note.pdf

My accountant says they're meant to be finalising it very shortly.

Hi Thanks - very helpful.

Just trying to determine my residency for TY 2013/14.
- I have resigned from my job on Feb 19, 2013.
- Official last working day is May 17 but I will be working till May 3 and then taking 2 weeks leave till end of May 17.
- For May month end I will be paid till May 17.

Re counting 31 working days in Tax Year I got couple of questions:

Will I count days till May 3 or May 17? (I am outside country from May 3 night)

Will days count will start after April 6? or April 1?

I assume only working days (not weekends) will be counted as I would be paid for weekends but actually not working on weekends (normal job rule)?

Many thanks if you could let me know your thoughts.

Cheers

Sha

None of the above is relevant. You can only be non resident for the tax year 2012/13 (split year) if you were non resident 2011/12. If you resigned in February 2013 then the 2013/14 tax year is clearly completely irrelevant to your circumstances.

What was your status 2011/2012?

Or are you saying that you resigned from your job in UK in February - In which case what matters is when you took up your overseas appointment.

Try explaining your situation in full in a new thread, cause no one can even begin to understand what it is that you are asking from the above.
