Does anyone know what Inheritance Law is applied in UAE for Non Residents of UAE with property in UAE?
I am a UK citizen and resident (NOT a UAE resident) presently visiting UAE. I have property in Abu Dhabi. On my death would UAE inheritance law be applicable to my estate in Abu Dhabi or would it be UK law?

Both to a certain extent, depending on how wills are drawn up.

Assets in the UAE are subject to Sharia Law and the decision of the courts. That said, if you have a properly written, translated and attested will, are British and not Muslim, your wishes should be followed regarding distribution.

If you are a UK national your worldwide estate is subject to UK Inheritance Tax.
