UAE Visa Requirements
 

I'm coming to UAE on a business trip next month, arriving in Dubai then moving to Abu Dhabi, travelling on a UK passport.

I will be in AD for up to 6 months.

I know I will get a 30 day visa on arrival, but what exactly are my options to renew, extend or otherwise obtain a valid visa during my stay?

Will I have to do a visa run every 30 days?

Any info much apprecciated...

You will have to do a visa run every thirty days, i believe you can extend it for 30 days after your first 30 without a visa run, but not sure how and where you do that. please do a search there are loads of posts on this topic

You can drive to Oman at the end of your 30 days, leave the UAE, then come back over the border, refreshing your 30 days. I'm doing this waiting for my residency to go through.

And if you over run your 30 days its a hefty fine !

Simple answer, no. You can hire a car on a UK licence, you cannot own a car unless you have a UAE licence...

And you cant have a UAE licence without a UAE residency..

And it's not just a UAE resident visa now. In AD you must have a valid national ID card (or at least the paper copy receipt) to apply for a driving license.
