And the cops are known to post a motor cycle patrol officer outside venues such as Irish Village, so better to use taxis or the metro.

I think zero tolerance is ridiculous....people who have a unit in their system are not the same as idiots who get tanked up and get behind the wheel.
The punishment for people over the limit in the UK needs to be increased for sure - I would even advocate flogging in public for drunk drivers who cause accidents...I don't see any sense in punishing people who have a beer then drive home sober and sane and are just unlucky to be pulled over though.

I agree that you're able to drive quite fine after a beer but a zero tolerance approach isn't a massive inconvenience for anyone.
Frankly if I can't have a few drinks when i'm out....I can't be bothered with just one. If I have to have one beer and then orange juice the rest of the night...may as well just have orange juice all night.
Or even better - get a taxi.....they're cheap as chips.

I think that is was 'zero tolerance' means. Otherwise there would be some tolerance.
My view is that it should be nil. As soon as you allow people to have 'one drink' the whole system is open to abuse.
I refuse to believe that people are just as capable after even one drink - the 8 stone guy who has not eaten all day isn't going to be 100% after a pint.
As others have said, if it's one and then cokes all night, why not just drink the cokes from the start?

It takes 72hours for alcohol to completely leave the system of a appropriately weighted person.....
How many dayz EM have you been sober but against the zero tolerance count to do the school/office run?.......

........ the problem in the UK is that you don't necessarily know if you are committing an offence or not. If I drive to a pub and spend, say, an hour drinking two pints of average strength beer, am I going to be over the limit when I drive home? Some will be, some won't............
............ which isn't right, so I suppose a zero limit would be the answer. Tough, but fair (and equal) for everybody.

ok, let's adjust this for the measurement tolerance of the breath measuring device - never.
