Default UAE driving licences to be renewed every five years

You now have to renew your UAE driver's licence every 5 years - What's On Dubai

Renew it twice as often and each time for the same fee. An easy moneymaker, as cynic might say.

Money maker as you rightly say - along with so many things at the moment....but such is. What does puzzle me is the increase in car insurance costs? Have I missed something there?

Any ideas on how it will be implemented Meow?

I assume that any licenses issued before the announcement will still be valid until he expiry date shown on the license? ie my license was issued in 2010, expiring in 2020, so assume no problem leaving it until 2020 where my renewal will then show 2025?

I haven't had a chance to look into it further but I would imagine it will be change going forward as you say.
