UAE bands

No not bans, bands...

Is there a local (no, not Local's) scene for bands? I don't mean the covers crap but bands that actually write and perform?

I've been here a while and hardly heard any of them... where do they gig?

Any info?

There are a few nu-metal type rock bands kicking around.

One of the better ones is apparently called Mannekind or something like that. I believe they are going to be playing the Desert Rock festival after winning some Dubai battle of the bands contest.

Problem is of course that most Khaleeji's prefer to pretend to be gangsta rappers.

Yeah - had heard of them and knew there was a metal scene of sorts... where do they play?

Is there any venues for non-covers bands?
