Of course, yes - just getting in ahead of time.

Actually, I did mean to add this link but the blasted site kept crashing, seems to be OK now.

I love the idea of the 2 minute silence mp3 in the charts.

If it made number 1 (or even in the top 10), the radio stations are pretty much forced to play it every hour or so. How annoying would that be to have the radio go silent for 2 minutes every hour for a week or so.

Yeah, I guess that's true. Just that one of my rages against the machine is that virtually all radio presenters (those on Radio 4, Chris Evans and Sir Tel excepted) are more-or-less illiterate. Which, given that they only have one medium in which to express themselves (the spoken word) strikes me as odd. No, actually, not odd--'king mental, just another manifestation of the lunatics being in charge of the asylum.

When I listen to the dimwits on the radio out here, I give up counting how many solecisms and barbarisms are comitted every morning, Daisy being the worstest offender.

Why do I bother? I never wanted to do this in the first place. I wanted to be a lumberjack...

Should this be 11.00am our time, or UK or French time (where it all happened)?

Just wondering...

Dunno. Googled "daisy radio uae" and came up with the following. Only one of them does it for me, and sorry, but there are no prizes for guessing which...

Tried the same Googling (images) and the one fifth down on the right looked like a fun kind of girl, if a little on the fuzzy side :O

(Though Daisy Lowe is rather lovelier looking)

11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month is 3pm (or 1500hrs)

For the Fallen

With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,
England mourns for her dead across the sea.
Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,
Fallen in the cause of the free.

Solemn the drums thrill: Death august and royal
Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres.
There is music in the midst of desolation
And a glory that shines upon our tears.

They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

They mingle not with their laughing comrades again;
They sit no more at familiar tables at home;
They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;
They sleep beyond England's foam.

But where our desires are and our hopes profound,
Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight,
To the innermost heart of their own land they are known
As the stars are known to the Night;

As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust,
Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain,
As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness,
To the end, to the end, they remain.

Thank you for getting us back on track.

I will never forget. And despite my best efforts I will never be able to stop my eyes filling with tears, as they are now, when I think seriously about this. And I will continue, as always, to believe this is completely appropriate.

my thoughts go to all serving member of our Armed forces, and those families living everyday with the loss of loved ones.

Also to all the countless amounts of ex servicemen living with physical and mental scars

We will remember.
