Head out along the Hatta road and you'll find a quad bike hire place next to Big Red....

yeah, it's good fun...there are loads of companies which do the trip, all pretty much of a muchness i think...if you buy the Entertainer, you'll get 50% off for Arabian Adventures and they are fine...

Or try Funtours - cheaper than some of the bigger names even with the discounts... and (albeit according to the driver i had) they spend more time actually on the dunes, up and down loads of times. AA just do a couple of dunes)

Service was excellent (he even picked us up from my flat in Shj!)

cautionary tale time.....of over 300 desert safari tour companies less than a dozen are insured.
Only go with the big names, AA, Net tours etc as I know they are insured.

Personally I spend a lot of time in the desert and frankly having rescued several dozen so called "desert safari" drivers i wouldnt go on a drive with any of them. Yes some guys are very good drivers but the majority are absolute nutters who have no idea what they are doing, no equipment and no insurance.

i can vouch for that... when i was there in 2004 doing a safari, we hadn't even got to the desert yet and the driver managed to get himself stuck in a car park... he then had to back up the ramp and hit a kid on his bike in the process!
