if the bank charges are too much you can always give me the transfer in a briefcase - I'm travelling on Friday

Hi,

I use Lloyds TSB, allowed two transferes per month with no charges, no problems so far, although it a pain opening an account with them as you need thee UK bank statements and usual letter from companyetc.

We opened our account with only a letter from employer stating salary. We had been told it would be a nightmare and came armed with bank statements and utility bills for the last 6 months but none of it was necessary. We had a couple of hiccups with getting my name added to my husband's account but apart from that we have been impressed.

In actual fact all banks here are the same if you have any changes, request etc., takes ages to fix, Dubai way I am afraid, for example internet banking, check to see if wages have been paid, yip they are shown on line, go to back to withdraw, nope ATM machine is 24 hours behind bank!? How that works I don't know apart from bank telling me ATM machines do not belong to them? It takes 24 hours ATM to confirm wages can be paid, more like 24 hours investment of my money and they get the benefit!

How hum such is life in UAE.
