British Expats - Transfer from Libya to UAE

Hi All- I may have told you this earlier, but finally my transfer from Libya to UAE is set to materialize within 10 days or so. Finally. At last. I have tried my best and with a bit of luck too I managed to get myself on the transfer list. My company does operate both in Libya and certain GCC countries.

I lived in UAE from '96 to '06 then again from '08 to '11. Then from '11 to '13 in Thailand, and since the beginning of '13 in Libya.

What can I say, Libya is an uninteresting country in which expat life can be hard in hundreds of ways, not to mention downright dangerous. Mars with oxygen.

In any case the only good thing in Libya is the weather (whenever there are no dust storms). However the place does build character... Some frustrations regarding life in UAE and regarding remoteness of certain areas in the UAE can now quickly be brought into perspective. Or to put it in another way, for those who feel, bored or frustrated or even inconvenienced in places like Qatar, UAE or Oman, please bear in mind at least that your place isn't Libya.

I would appreciate your comments on the life in UAE since 11 and what has changed for the better, or worse... I would guess that Traffic congestion has become worse and rents have risen...Any other things? Speed cameras in most roads?
