MPs vote for blanket ban on public sale of alcohol in Bahrain
Manama: A blanket ban on public sale of alcohol in Bahrain's hotels, restaurants and clubs is what most Members of Parliament want.
The MPs voted for a total ban on Tuesday, but agreed to allow consumption in private homes, with suppliers providing home delivery.
Hotel guests would be allowed alcohol only in their rooms under the proposal, backed unanimously at parliament's weekly session, reported a Bahrain-based newspaper.
The proposal must now go to the Cabinet.
The nationwide ban was proposed by parliament legislative and legal affairs committee vice-chairman Shaikh Jassem Al Saeedi, who said alcohol was fuelling the vice trade and turning the country into a brothel.
"It is the main reason behind unclean tourism and the consequences the country is facing from increased crime," he said.

I don't think it will happen.
It is not unheard of for the cabinet to rule against ratifying draft laws in Bahrain.

Re: Total Booze Ban in Bahrain
If you've ever spent any time in Bahrain, you would see that public drunkenness is a problem (mostly from Saudi's it has to be said!!)
They felt they had to do something, and I guess this was what they thought would be a good compromise. People can still drink, just not in public.

Worked in Saudi for four and a half years actually and visited Bahrain often crossing the causeway but never disgraced myself in public in a drunken stupor
