too old to move to UAE?
Reading a recent thread I got the feeling many expats are on averabge in their 30's, I am planning moving next year (kids grown up and independant now) and will be 46, I will be working as a teacher and have no idea if we want to live there fore 2 years or longer (depends on lots), do people think we are too old to start or life out there? Thanks for any useful comments. Julie

Welcome to the forums.
What do you mean by, start life out here? Are you intending on settling here?
I guess most people would agree with me when i say that Dubai is good for a few years, while you enjoy life in the sun (blazing though it may be), but it living in Dubai is never a permanent move.
And age is never a barrier, unless you're over 65, which is when you are forced into retirement. There are no elderly people in Dubai...

No what I mean is starting a new chapter as moving away from UK and working away, had life changing event earlier this year and now life for short term. Would like to do at least 2 years then maybe move to Europe. Know many say it is hard to save but would like to think we would be able to put a little a side in a couple of years to allow us to move if necessary. Thanks for help, Julie

Don't assume it is hard to save - it isn't. As a teacher, I presume you've got housing (which is the killer really) already sorted. Your savings then depends on you really. My advice is have a budget and stick to it. Unfortunately, most people here want to keep up with the Jonses or try to be one up on their neighbours in terms of the car(s) they drive, neighbourhood, holidays ....blah...you get the drift. These are the people who don't save and end up moaning.
