Tipping etiquette

Wow, you must be very proud.
The same goes for Flood2 - we're in a third world region here where desperate people take desperate jobs to feed their families who they will see once a year if they're lucky. Have a heart and slip them some pocket change that accounts for 0.0000001% of your salary. It costs you next to nothing and might help them just a little. What's not to like?

There was an artcile in the papers a couple of years ago from some Spinney's spokeperson asking people not to tip the bag-packers as they get paid the same as checkout people. Since then I've not tipped bag-packers.
Petrol - rounded to nearest 5 Dhs
Restaurants - 10% usually and never any more - less if the service has been exceptionally poor.
Everyone else...no tip

restaurants normally 10% unless its already got 10% service charge on then 5%, taxi drivers I round it up and add 5dhs, bar staff usually 10dhs depending how long Ive been in.

I tried to tip a bagger in Spinneys last week and he said they were not allowed to take tips, in Carrefour 5dhs.

If everyone gave me 1/33 of my wage every 5 minutes I could retire a damn site quicker than I am going to at this rate.

So if bag boy earns 1000 Dirhams a month, Sparing the maths lesson its roughly 33 dirhams a day. He doesn't need many 1 dirhams to double his wage?
