Things to do in doha
Hi,
I need to leave abu dhabi for visa purposes. My company wants to send me to Doha as we have an office over there. Can anybody tell me if it is worth spending 2 days of my time there. Or is it best I get in and get out as quick as I possibly can. I was thinking about going over next weekend? Thanks |
Re: Things to do in doha
Nothing of real interest to see and/or do there from my experience...

Re: Things to do in doha
Thanks for the swift reply. No places to explore. No good bars to visit?

I'm in Qatar, and thankfully I only have a 1 day weekend, because I'd be bored shitless with a 2-dayer.
There are bars, but mostly dives full of bitter old expats, like the one in the Ramada or Garveys. The malls are shite and always packed (or closed). The one western-catering radio station, QBS, is a sick joke. Read my blog if you can be arsed. |

lol it up, fuzzball.
I am grumpy because I was kept awake last night by the men building a new apartment block right next to my block. They were pouring and poking concrete until it was light again. The twats. |

It's a line from Star Wars.
You nerf-herder. You're bantha fodder. |
Re: Things to do in doha
So, what do you do on your one day off Jimmy? I'm curious!

Re: Things to do in doha
Well Tootsie, you sum it up quite well. The corniche is the nicest bit of Doha, and in the cooler months it is very pleasant to stroll along.
I spend my Fridays sleeping and shopping for food (simultaneously), and maybe treat myself to dinner somewhere. I went to a local football match the other week. That was quite entertaining, and only 10 Q-Riyals to get in. |
Re: Things to do in doha
I spose one day off a week leaves you needing sleep more than anything. We are planning to go see the footie next week.
I know some long term expats here who never stop, bar hopping and party invites that go on and on, it would drive me round the bend lol. What part of town are you in? |
